The weather yesterday in Brisbane was wet and cool. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining at all. Friday’s temperature was the coolest February day we have had since 1961! It made a nice change from the heat and humidity we’ve been having.
Anyways, with the wet weather there wasn’t a whole lot of outside work able to be done. Yes there is always plenty of inside things to do, but we decided a day out in our own city would be a nice way to spend a few wet, rainy, cool hours.
I haven’t done any crochet in soooo long! I’ve missed it. It dawned on me over the summer holidays that crochet would now be my favourite type of crafting. It’s normally something I can do anywhere anytime, just so portable.
Living in the subtropics in Australia, there really is only so many crochet blankets or quilts (another favourite thing of mine) our household needs. I think I maxed out the need long ago. So how do I fulfil my need to crochet?
This last week saw me return to work after a long and relaxing holiday. The first few weeks are always busy with organising and celebrating the Christmas period, but after that it’s all about relaxing.
Hubby also had a couple of weeks off this summer, so we were able to get away together. Of course this was spent in our camper trailer!
Living in a ninety-one year old home there is always work going on. We’ve been in this house for twenty-four years now and we have never painted it! As we are planning on moving to our Cootharaba property in the next couple of years the time has come to get serious about finishing off this house.
Happy New Year!!!
During the last week, between Christmas and New Year, we spent a few nights up at our property. It had been quite a few weeks since our last visit. We follow the weather there and knew we had received quite a bit of rain. We were quite certain the grass would be long and in desperate need of attention.
Well here we are at the end of another year. 2017, you have been interesting to say the least. So many great and happy happenings occurred this year. As well as quite a few challenges.
What beautiful spring weather we are having! The last couple of week ends have been quite rainy, but oh this week end, perfect!
It had been a few months since we have managed to make it up to our property and we knew it would be in desperate need of some attention. Continue reading
I wasn’t sure I was going to get back to my little space here, but I have. It’s been a while since I last posted anything. Life has been difficult to say the least. Lots of family issues that changed my priorities and where my time has been spent. Things have eased enough now for some normality to resume in our lives. I think parts of us have changed in different ways forever, and I think this may become apparent in this blog of mine. Continue reading
I actually managed to finish this quilt! It felt like I was stuck on it for ages, but managed to finish it quite quickly in the end.
I wish I could remember how long ago I started making this lovely quilt. Maybe that would be scary to know, as I know it was ages ago. It has been a long time since I did much quilting. I seem to be more into crochet and dressmaking these days. I do have more unfinished wip quilt tops to work on, so this won’t be the last quilt you’ll see from me.
Here it is, the finished starry quilt ta dah!!
I’ve pulled out another wip to begin work on while we’re away for a couple of weeks. I’m planning on getting quite a bit done on it.
Not sure where the time has gone, but it certainly hasn’t been spending time here on my little blog.
I’m blaming all the winter ills going on in this house and just getting through the rest of winter. As discussed before, it certainly isn’t my favourite season!
Even most of my crafts have been put on the back burner. Today that changed a little. Continue reading
